Colorado Is Home to One of The Ugliest Towns in the United States
Colorado is one of the prettiest places to live in America, but like every state, we have a few ugly ducklings here and there. We asked you to tell us which town in Colorado gets your vote for being one of those ugly ducklings. We'll take a closer look at your answers below.
The writers at Travel.alot.com recently went around the country selecting the ugliest town in each state. Keep going to learn which town was chosen as the ugliest in the Centennial State.
Colorado's Ugliest Town
Travel.alot.com selected the community of Lochbuie, Colorado, and the ugliest town in the Centennial State. The community was started as a remote mobile home park in the 1960s. There was so much space it earned the nickname of "Space City." Over the years, little has arrived in Lochbuie to take up all that space.
Lochbuie, Colorado
Lochbuie is a town with about 8,000 residents located in Weld and Adams counties in Northeastern Colorado. The town has a total area of 1.4 miles and was incorporated in 1974.
Lochbuie, Colorado, is named after the Scottish community of Lochbuie, Null. This coastal community in Scottland features tidal islands and old castles. It's a much different look than what you find in Lochbuie, Colorado.
How did Lochbuie earn its designation as Colorado's ugliest town? Perhaps because it's pretty much void of anything. There are some mountains in the distance, but very little to help a visitor to discover its character. Lochbuie is flat, gray, and without much of the flora or wildlife that Colorado is known for.
Keep going to see the other Colorado communities that might challenge Lochbuie one day as the ugliest town in our state.
