Colorado's Small but Growing Amish Population
America's largest concentration of Amish communities are found in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Both states are home to over 70,000 Amish.
Colorado has between 100 and about 1000 Amish residents spread out in a handful of communities. Some Amish settlements are home to very small groups, while the largest settlement has between 300 and 400 residents.
Colorado's Monte Vista settlement is the largest in the state, but all the state's settlements continue to grow steadily.
Traditional Amish Way of Life
The Amish in Colorado tend to live the same lifestyle as states with larger populations. As you may have heard, they do not use electricity, travel mainly in horse-drawn buggies and bicycles, and usually make a living in the field of agriculture.
The Amish are also known for being great furniture makers, quilting, and farm produce.
