Colorado Avalanche Star Makes History This Week At Ball Arena

As things begin to shift into full-on NHL Playoff mode for our Colorado Avalanche, one of our stars made history on Tuesday night at the Ball Arena, and we were there to witness greatness in person.

While in ways it feels like forever since we won our last Stanley Cup, the Colorado Avalanche stood at the top of the mountain just two years ago after beating the Tampa Lightnight in an NHL Finals Thriller.

While the team now has three Stanley Cup Championships, we always want more, right? And that's the goal as we get ready for this year's NHL Playoffs. While the final seeding isn't set yet, the Avs have secured a spot in this year's playoffs which are kicking off on April 22nd.

As we get into crunch time to try and secure home ice advantage throughout the playoffs, one Avalanche mega-star has been doing all he can to set him and the boys up to bring home another Stanley Cup to Colorado.

Nathan MacKinnon Makes History

In a huge 5-2 win over the division rival Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night, Alternate Avs Captain, Nathan MacKinnon, lit the light three different times to notch his 7th career hat trick. That's not the historic moment we're talking about though...

With those three huge goals, Nate secured his 49th, 50th, and 51st goals of the season, setting a new career high for him, and joining only 4 other Colorado players in Avalanche history to score more than 50 goals in a season.

What Colorado Avalanche Players Have Scored The Most Goals?

Mikko Rantanen scored 55 goals just last season, Milan Hejduk scored 50 goals in the 2002/03 season, and Joe Sakic, who scored 54 goals in 2000/01 and 51 goals in their inaugural 1995/96 season.
