If you slept through August or September - thanks, Green Day - you may have missed some big news that made it under many's radar as the holiday season approaches.

We're all well versed that when a big retailer packs up the inventory and abandons a location, the costume and decor behemoth "Spirit Halloween" is the first usual suspect to move in, even if for only a month or so.

However, announced in August, they may be keeping the holiday spirit alive a bit longer as they're set to open 30 "Spirit Christmas" locations across the United States.

And they're exactly what you think. Take what you know about Spirit Halloween and apply it to jolly old St. Nick instead.

So will Colorado be getting a Spirit Christmas store this year?

Sad to say, we will not. The locations are predominantly east of the Mississippi River, scattered amongst Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

That's a long hike for some sweet Christmas decorations. The good news, however, is that last year they only opened a quarter of that many stores, so it's definitely a concept that's growing and something I'm sure we will see in Colorado soon if it has another successful season on a wider scale.

Most of those 30 stores are expected to be open the first week of November, soon as they can move the Halloween costumes out and the Christmas decorations in. Visitors will even be able to book a photo with Santa, beginning November 21.
