Construction Company Bringing 1,700 Jobs to Colorado With HQ Move
A construction firm, that most Coloradans probably haven't heard of, has been headquartered in Denver since 1986; they'll be moving their headquarters within Colorado. With that, nearly 2,000 jobs will be coming to the state.
Who is Colorado's RK Mechanical Inc?
RK Mechanical dates back to 1963 when it began in Pender, Nebraska. More than 60 years later, the company is very large, dealing in construction, manufacturing, fabrication and service within the mechanical, electrical, steel, water, and energy fields.
RK says 1,700+ good-paying jobs in a variety of areas will be added with their headquarters move.
They are in three other states other than Colorado: Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico; they currently have about 1,700 employees. They've been eyeing a move of their headquarters for about two-years, according SentinelColorado.com, and the move will mean eventually doubling that workforce.
While the jump in the number of employees won't happen overnight, SentinelColorado.com reports that within eight years RK will be adding 1,786 jobs by moving their headquarters from Denver to Aurora.

Four of RK's businesses will be consolidated into the new 154,000 square-foot facility: RK Industries, RK Mechanical, RK Service, and RK Electrical as well as the RK Foundation. A lot of times you hear the word "consolidate" followed by information about jobs being eliminated, it's good that that isn't the case with this move.
From a statement from RK:
We’re projecting to create over 1,700 good-paying jobs over the next eight years, investing heavily in workforce training, and strengthening the communities where our employees live and work.
Aurora is Colorado's third-largest city, with a population (2025) of just over 400,000. Though the city's crime rate is above the national average, the city is beautiful, has great restaurants and many places for outdoor recreation.
