While Colorado would love to get its first Aldi location, it looks like they won't be coming to Fort Collins as predicted in early 2025. A Colorado-based grocery chain has officially  purchased a building for their second store in Fort Collins.

Natural Grocers/Vitamin Cottage Coming to Midtown Fort Collins, Colorado

On one hand, it's a disappointment that Aldi will not be expanding into Colorado with a spot in Fort Collins as we reported in February of 2025, it's good to see a Colorado-born businesses succeeding and adding more locations.

Vitamin Cottage/Natural Grocers has been around since 1955 with their first brick-and-mortar store opening in Lakewood, Colorado in 1963. In 2012, the company went public, raising over $100 million with their IPO.

Today, there are over 160 locations across 20 states, proving that their business model is solid. While they do have many vitamins and supplements, the company is more focused on the grocery side of things, these days.

I know I've been into the newer one in Downtown Loveland a few times. I was recommended to pop in and get one of their cold remedy supplements before I left on one of my vacations; it was great advice.

Where Will Natural Grocers New Fort Collins Location Be?

According to the Coloradoan, the company has purchased a building in Midtown (on College near Harvard) that was a Mitsubishi dealership from 2013 to 2019, and was once where Fort Collins' JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts was located.

The plans (which did sound similar to Aldi stores) are to put a new building at the space, which is common for them (that's what they did in Loveland.)

I reached out to their Manager of Public Relations for any more information, but she said they're not ready to release more information, here in June of 2025.
