These sweltering Northern Colorado days have me feeling some sort of way. Triple-digit highs make many of us not want to leave the house. At the same time, it's hard to just stay inside because of the heat. We all want to be outside enjoying the final days of summer.

Worst of all, my dog loves being outside, and he somehow can't seem to grasp why he is panting so hard with his tongue out the side of his mouth whilst having a death grip on his favorite ball.

There are still plenty of hot days ahead in Northern Colorado with forecasted highs back in the low 100s this upcoming weekend. While the days may still be hot, they are getting shorter and shorter.

Northern Colorado Days Are Getting Shorter in August

August is one of those months where we will see a significant reduction in sunlight each day. Every single day in August, we lose at least two minutes of sunlight. On August 1, 2026, Northern Colorado lost two minutes and one second of sunlight. By the time August 31, 2026, rolls around, we will lose two minutes and thirty-three seconds of daylight in a single day.

For the entire month of August, we will lose approximately an hour and twelve minutes of sunlight. While it may be hot, you might want to enjoy the sunlight as much as you can, because you are losing literal minutes of it every day.
