A longtime scam is once again making headlines in Colorado. It looks like we unfortunately have a scam alert once again.
To be honest, I was not aware that there was a term for this kind of theft until recently. I figured if this term is new to me, it must be new to others in Colorado.

This type of theft invades your personal space and we hope it never hope it happens to you or anybody you know. This theft is a reminder that you should always lock your car doors no matter how safe you believe you are.
Sliders in Colorado: What It Means
A slider is a type of theft that is directly related to being a customer at a gas station. These criminals will watch people who are either entering the gas station or pumping gas.

The thief will wait until the driver is not paying attention, then will steal wallets, phones, and whatever they deem as valuable inside of the vehicle.

The crime is called “sliding” because the thief slides below the eye level of the vehicle door to commit the thefts.
How to Stay Safe From Sliders in Colorado
Always lock your doors whenever you exit your vehicle. This is muscle memory for most of us these days. Also check your windows and ensure that nobody can enter your vehicle.
Whenever I pump gas I take it as an opportunity to clean the inside of my vehicle. I try to find as many wrappers, receipts, and trash I can get my hands on.
