Larimer County Deputies Stop Alleged Cannonball Run Car
We've all seen the cars in the movies that can go stealth and essentially fly away from police in the blink of an eye. Chances of you actually seeing one in real life are pretty slim. However, if you were driving on Interstate 25 in Northern Colorado in the evening on Saturday, May 30, you may have caught a glimpse of one of these vehicles.
Deputies Say the Sedan Had Police-Evasion Equipment
According to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, a dark sedan was clocked doing 130 miles per hour on northbound Interstate 25 near Carpenter Road. As deputies initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, it exited Mountain Vista and continued at speeds over 100 miles per hour.

At this time, the driver went stealth mode and blacked out all lights in an attempt to avoid being caught. The driver then ran a red light near Country Club and Terry Lake. A high-risk traffic stop was initiated, and deputies took the driver and passenger into custody without any further issues.
High-Speed I-25 Incident Ends With Arrests
Larimer County Sheriff's Office Deputies inspected the sedan and found it to be extensively modified with systems that are used to evade law enforcement. The vehicle was equipped with radar detectors, jammers, a device to block the vehicle's license plate, and a passenger binocular system that is used to spot law enforcement.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office says this type of setup in a vehicle is used in what is known as a "Cannonball Run," which is illegal street racing from one coast to the other. Often equipped with greatly modified fuel systems, used for nonstop endurance drives. Deputies also found amphetamines in the vehicle, a controlled stimulant.
