A Colorado Zoo Has Been Ranked One of the Best in the Nation

A Colorado zoo has been ranked as one of the best in the nation again by USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. This isn't the first time that this zoo has been ranked as one of the best in the nation either.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has made an appearance on USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards for eight years in a row. This year, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo ranked fifth place for the best zoo in North America and the second-best zoo exhibit in North America.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo creates environments and experiences that bring zoo guests close to the animals as possible. This is done by designing the exhibits to remove as many barriers as possible while still maintaining safety for the guests and the zoo's animals. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo also has one of the largest giraffe herds in North America with a total number of 17.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's exhibit, Rocky Mountain Wild took home second place for best exhibit. The Rocky Mountain Wild Exhibit has been nominated six times in the USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards.

The top four best zoos in North America according to USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards went to the following zoos:

• Fourth place: Honolulu Zoo
• Third place: North Carolina Zoo
• Second place: Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden
• First place: Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium
