Get Up Close and Personal With Pennywise in These New ‘It’ Photos
While Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been dominating the conversation, Rian Johnson’s film wasn’t the only movie featured in next week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly. Their annual Fall Movie Preview includes updates and photos from a handful of upcoming releases, including Stephen King’s It, arguably the most highly anticipated movie of the fall. We’ve already seen Mark Hamill fight people with a lightsaber, but a bunch of kids running around the Northeast in the 1980s fighting a supernatural monster? Why, we haven’t seen that since Stranger Things came out! And that was a whole year ago!
I kid, I kid. You’ll have to pick up an issue of the magazine for the full batch of photos (via ComingSoon.net), but as usual, a few of the photos from It found their way onto social media for your viewing pleasure. This includes a great new picture of Pennywise and another look at the Losers’ Club being terrified (which, I assume, will take up about 75 minutes of the final film):
The picture of Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise is a particularly welcome addition. For my money, it’s not hard to make any character seem terrifying when we only see it in brief glimpses and in low lighting — thus the copious amounts of YouTube videos recutting the It trailer with footage from Cat in the Hat — but Pennywise is going to have to hold up in broad daylight, too. This new photo bodes well for his fear factor no matter where he is.
Here’s the full plot synopsis for It:
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
The film will star Bill Skarsgård, Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, and Wyatt Oleff. It will float into theaters (get it?) on September 8, 2017.
