With gun control and the recent mass shootings in America, many are looking for something to be done. Others are being proactive and taking their own measures, including Arizona's controversial sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Sheriff Arpaio, the reining sheriff of Maricopa County, has decided to place armed 'volunteer posse members' at schools in his jurisdiction. Many are questioning how 'America's Toughest Sheriff' is handling his armed volunteers at schools, with some calling it a publicity stunt at the expense of the Sandy Hook tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.

The armed posse volunteers are already posted at schools even though they haven't been trained to deal with a school shooting. Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced to the media that actor and volunteer posse member Steven Seagal as well as the SWAT team will be training the volunteers this Saturday February 9, 2013.

Many Americans don't disagree something needs to be done to protect children from the fringe of society from a school shooting. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office volunteer posse members will be trained in shooting scene management, entry tactics and hand to hand combat. Should Steven Seagal, who drove a tank into a home and killed a puppy, really be training these volunteers to protect children?

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has caused much controversy in the past including accusations of racial profiling by the U.S. Department of Justice and claims President Obama's long-form birth certificate was forged. The sheriff who has been in office since 1993 is currently facing a recall campaign to get him out of office, which has gone viral.
