With a day off and fresh snow, many of us are headed to the mountains. However, I-70 will be closed in both directions for parts of today, Friday, November 29.

The closures will be for rockslide cleanup, due to two different rockslides near Idaho Springs according to Colorado Department of Transportation, who says that "Westbound I-70 travel is **NOT ADVISED**. Expect long delays. No local detour available."

Check the latest road conditions with this CDOT link.

CDOT says:

A rockfall has closed the right lane along westbound I-70 near mile marker 236, east of Dumont. One lane remains open, but delays are already building, and travelers should expect backups to grow. Denver metro-area travelers looking to go to destinations in Summit County and further west should consider using US-285 to CO-9. More details will be made available as crews determine the extent of the issue.
