A few years have passed since Howard Jones amicably parted ways with Killswitch Engage, and the vocalist is now speaking about the circumstances that led to his exit. In an interview with Revolver Magazine (excerpted by Metal Injection), Jones reveals that there was more to it than the diabetes explanation that was initially given.

Jones explains, "There was nothing wrong with Killswitch or the relationship. Everything was wrong with me. I was going insane. It never occurred to me to get help. For years, I just tried to fight through it and I was driving those guys berserk."

The vocalist continues, "My anxiety was building and building and near the end, there were a lot of times I'd sit in the back of the bus or lay in my bunk for hours on end without speaking to anyone. Even the idea of having to do a meet and greet freaked me out."

Jones reveals that his anxiety was so bad that he was no longer able to get up on stage, eventually resulting in a mental breakdown and the band having to call upon Phil Labonte to fill in.

The rocker says he's since recovered from his anxiety issues and is also taking better care of himself where his diabetes is concerned. "I'm doing fantastic now, better than I have in years," says Jones. "The diabetes is completely under control. I'm doing lots of exercise and eating better than ever and my blood sugar has basically regulated itself. My doctor couldn't believe it."

Jones now fronts the band Devil You Know, who just released their 'The Beauty of Destruction' debut disc.
