Today is Groundhog Day a day when rodents predict if we get an early spring or six more weeks of winter. The first written observance of the custom came in 1886 and has become a huge tradition in the states. Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this time so that means an early spring, or does it?

Looking at the past 14 times Phil’s record is not that good. Twice Phil had no prediction; four times he was right and eight times he was wrong. In fact last year was the first right call in six years, that’s right Phil was wrong five strait years. That means Phil is right about 33% of the time. If you where right at work about 33% of the time you might not have that job long, just ask a kicker.

So is spring on the way? Sure it is. We know spring will happen but if it’s late the weather guys can always blame a rodent.
