Do you have a non-emergency report you would like to file with the Grand Junction Police Department? Would you like to request a vacation home check? Here are a few quick and easy ways to do this online.

Please note, for our purposes here we are talking about events that do not constitute an emergency, don't involve a violent crime, and are not in progress at this moment. We are discussing events occurring within the city limits of Grand junction such as vandalism, lost property, and cold shoplifts.

The Grand Junction Police Department has a couple of online options available for such matters. The "File a Police Report Online of Request a Vacation Home Check" site is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The following police reports can be filed from this webpage:

  • This incident occurred within the city limits of Grand Junction
  • Events that are NOT an emergency
  • Events NOT occurring right now
  • This does not involve a violent crime
  • This does not involve a firearm or explosives, to include the use or theft of these items
  •  Events where no evidence left behind. (Evidence can include any item left behind by the suspect)
  • Fraud reports cannot be submitted online. To report fraud, complete the fraud packet, and then call the non-emergency dispatch at (970) 242-6707.
  • You have a valid email address

Please keep in mind that false reporting is a crime, too. When you submit an online report, a GJPD officer will review the submission. You can then print a free copy of your incident report. A GJPD may or may not contact you.

What if you don't have internet service available to you? The Grand Junction Police Department has a new online reporting kiosk in their lobby at 555 Ute Avenue. It is available to you Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. According to the Grand Junction Police Department's Facebook page, "This kiosk is designed to help aid our online reporting tools for those who cannot make a non-emergent report, from their phone or home computer."

If you plan to use the kiosk, please remember the criteria above. The GJPD adds, "But remember… If you need to report an 🚨 emergency, an accident, or something that is causing an immediate threat to life or property, call 911."

Requesting a vacation home check is a service I tend to forget. This is a fantastic option to take advantage of. A request for a home check can be done online and from the kiosk. The online report allows you to "Request to provide vacation home drive-by on specific dates if available. Vacation Watch is not for homes that are for sale, abandoned or in foreclosure."

The online reports are quick, easy, and convenient. I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but the online options are not for emergencies, and not for events happening right now. The vacation home check is a valuable resource. If you're not one for the internet or smartphones, there is the kiosk at the GJPD. Either way, these valuable tools are right at your fingertips.
