HIM’s Ville Valo – ‘Loud Legacy’ (Full Documentary)
We're extremely proud to bring you our full 45-minute 'Loud Legacy' documentary focusing on the life of HIM frontman Ville Valo. Hosted by Loudwire's Graham 'Gruhamed' Hartmann, 'Loud Legacy' begins with the formation of HIM in 1991 and spans all the way into late 2014.
HIM existed for six years before the band's debut full-length, Greatest Love Songs: Vol. 666, was released. During that period, HIM struggled to find their own sound while going through a number of lineup changes. Ville famously worked at his father's sex shop to pay the rent, while bassist Mikko 'Mige' Paananen left HIM for a short time to complete military service.
Ville Valo continuously shares his growth as an individual and HIM's development as a band while we explore all eight of HIM's full-length albums. Razorblade Romance saw Bam Margera getting involved with HIM, putting the band's music and Heartagram logo in Jackass, Viva La Bam, the CKY videos and much more. In 'Loud Legacy,' Ville talks about how he first met Bam and about the duo's famous friendship. However, Ville does say that Bam sometimes takes too much credit, speaking specifically about the song "Disarm Me (With Your Loneliness)," which Bam believes is about himself.
Ville also speaks candidly about how former drummer Gas Lipstick helped HIM perfect their sound, Valo's past hard-partying ways, ending up in rehab, a failed relationship and the multiple meanings behind many of HIM's most beloved songs.
