The joys of being a landlord. I need a couple of very tall tress removed from a property. It seems many other people do, too. Tree service companies are booked out for weeks. Can you help me find Western Colorado's best?

This is the second time today I've posted about services for property owners. First a roofer, and now someone to cut down and remove a couple of trees.

After several calls, it seems most companies listed in the phone book are in very high demand. Most aren't available for days if not weeks. What happened? Did trees suddenly up and die? Given the record breaking lack of rain combined with record setting heat, this isn't hard to imagine.

I have two trees, I'm guessing the better part of 40 feet tall, located disturbingly close to a rental house I own. My fortune cookie said it was best if I didn't try to remove them myself.

Do you see that photo at top? That is an actual depiction of what would happen if I tried to do the work myself. Actually, that photo represents the best case scenario. More than likely, instead of taking out a car, I would probably wipe out the entire house.

To date, estimates have come in at $500 per tree. That's way out of my league. Obviously it's dangerous work, hence the reason why I don't want to do it myself. That having been said, $500 is more than I have.

In addition to having the trees cut down, it would be nice, but not imperative, that the lumber be removed. If affordable, it would be equally nice to have the stumps removed. At this point, though, I'm not going to get greedy.

Can you recommend a good, yet affordable, tree service? They would have to be fully bonded and insured. Below you'll see a list of every tree service I could find. Let me know which one you recommend by casting your vote.

If I missed a company, write their name in. I'll add it to the list as soon as possible.
