The Western Slope Harley Owners Group (HOG) is bound and determined to see that every child in the area has a new toy for Christmas. While the annual toy run will not unfold per the norm, you still have a chance to get toys to kids in Western Colorado.

The following statement went out on Grand Junction Harley-Davidson's Facebook page yesterday:

Our HOG Club has been working around the clock with city officials as well as the health department to make the Toy Run event a possibility for our local community in this time of need. Unfortunately, the city will not honor the permit granted to the HOG Club for this year's Toy Run. However, the need for toy donations is GREATER THAN EVER.

Please do not be discouraged. You can still support local children by donating anytime between now and December 5, 2020.

There's another way you can help out. Lend a hand and help the Harley group "Stuff the Trucks." The Salvation Army has joined forces with Toys for Tots. Salvation Army trucks will be at Grand Junction Harley-Davidson at 2747 Crossroads Boulevard to collect toys on Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5.

For years now I've wanted to participate in the toy ride. I've always been held back by two problems:

  • I don't have a motorcycle
  • Even if I had a motorcycle, I don't have a motorcycle endorsement on my license

Regardless, I've always enjoyed running down to the Harley-Davidson dealership during the toy run to donate. No matter how you look at it, the mission remains the same - getting toys to kids in Western Colorado

While the mess that is 2020 is making things difficult, important missions such as this forge ahead. Please donate a toy (or toys) to this year's event. Donations are needed now more than ever.
