I want to take a moment and say happy birthday to one of the great guitar gods of all time Mr. Eddie Van Halen. In 1977 my uncle turned me on to this new band from Los Angeles called Van Halen. I got a copy of their first cassette entitled “Van Halen”. It blew me away and to this day is one of my favorite albums of all time.

The first time saw Van Halen was in 1982 on their ‘Hide Your Sheep Tour’ in support of their ‘Diver Down’ release. They played at the St. Louis Arena on August 6th and yes it was a hot summer night. I really don’t recall who the opening act was and I really didn’t care I was there to see Van Halen.

Have you ever been to a concert and at the end go damn they didn’t play this song or that song? This wasn’t one of those show they played it all and it was a kick-ass show from the word go. I have been to a ton of shows and with out any question this one ranks very high on the list.

So, Happy Birthday to one of the greatest guitarist of all time Mr. Eddie Van Halen.
