Classic Photos of Western Colorado Law Enforcement Officers
Take a trip back to Grand Junction, Colorado, and Mesa County's past with these Robert Grant photos of Grand Junction Police, Mesa County Sheriff's Office, and Colorado State Patrol officers.
Here's another round of photos from Western Colorado of the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and early 1980s.
Robert Grant Photos of Western Colorado Law Enforcement
Today's gallery comes from a manilla folder labeled "Law Enforcement Pictures." Like past galleries, these photos are being selected at random from filing cabinets and boxes filled with countless Robert Grant photos.
Also like other past galleries, these are photos that, put simply, didn't make the cut. These aren't the prints used in the Daily Sentinel. Rather, these prints were those Bob Grant made, and then set aside.
Shooting Range Photos
Unfortunately, as stated in past gallery posts, my grandpa, Bob Grant, rarely wrote anything down on his prints. As a result, for those of us viewing the photos 40, 50, 60, even 70 years later, it's often hard to discern who we're seeing and what is taking place. That's a significant part of my motive to get these photos in front of the public.
With this gallery, there are a few exceptions to the rule. A handful of names were provided. Most of those involve the images of officers engaged in target practice. While the prints don't say, it is my opinion the shooting range photos were taken at Potter's Field just west of the cemetery in Orchard Mesa.
Keep an Eye Out for Someone You Recognize
It never fails with these posts; you will probably see someone you recognize. It happens whenever we publish these.
