As of today, November 18, you'll see Grand Junction area businesses putting up their Christmas decorations. Some of these wreaths and lights are enormous. Who does one hire to put these up?

This was the scene today at ANB Bank on the 500 block of Rood in Grand Junction. Workers were hard at it putting up wreaths on the west side of the building. Check those out - those wreaths are bigger than the guy who's putting them up. Who are these guys, and where did they come from?

If you do a search, you'll find several area businesses hiring out for Christmas decorations. Some are seasonal businesses in need of work during the fall and winter months. If you think about it, the lawn mowing business can get a little slow in December. Drive around Grand Junction, and you'll see several businesses with "We Hang Christmas Lights" on their signs.

The photo at top shows an employee of Liqui Green Turf and Tree Care. I can't help but think business is light for them when winter rolls around. Along comes the holiday season, and Voila! According to their website, Liqui Green kicked off the decorating season clear back on November 5.

Please note: these businesses don't just put the displays up. Check out Liqui Green's website, and you'll see they do it all.

Another business offers permanent light displays to residents of Grand Junction, Palisade, Clifton, Fruita, and Loma. My brother has a "permanent" Christmas light display on his house. They're really just typical, store-bought lights. What makes them permanent? Simple. He never takes them down.

Seriously, there's a business offering a Christmas lighting display that you put up once and then leave indefinitely.

With virtually unlimited color and animation options, our programmable system gives customers the control and versatility to set their lights for every major holiday, sporting event, or any special occasion throughout the year. Trimlight provides bright, beautiful holiday and year round lighting at night, which is hardly noticeable during the day so the system can be left up all year, every year! - trimlight.com

This sounds great! Personally, I would rather go to the dentist than hang Christmas lights. I apologize in advance for the bad attitude, but hanging lights is tedious, frustrating when the lights get tangled, and something many of us do at the last minute.

Looking good, Grand Junction. Kudos to all who go that extra mile to decorate their homes and businesses. This may be the year I get off my rear end and dress up the house. Then again, I might hire one of these companies. I don't see myself spending the bucks for permanent lighting, but I can see hiring a pro. Why not let them climb ladders and fight with lights?
