For golfers, the only thing more fun than playing a round of golf is playing a round of golf is playing a round of golf for a good cause. And that's what I had the chance to do on Friday along with my colleagues, Tommy Rocker from 95 ROCK, and Britton Crone from KEKB, as golfed in support of Mesa County Partners.
We were at the beautiful Tiara Rado Golf Course, which happens to be my favorite course in the area partly because of my familiarity with it and partly because it is a course that offers a significant level of challenge without being totally intimidating.

It's been no secret in recent weeks that my golf game has been suffering greatly. In fact, it's been suffering so much I have been on the verge of totally putting it out of it's misery. But, after Friday, my golf game has received at least a temporary reprieve.

Don't get me wrong. It's not that I did anything amazing golf related, but considering the utter ruin of my game, I did enough adequate things that it may be worth continuing on for a bit longer. A golf scramble - for fun- is the perfect recipe for an ailing golf game. There's no pressure, and if you go in with low enough expectations there's little tension.  frustration, and disappointment. And it's just possible some really good things can happen.

Never mind that I lost the first two balls I hit. It could have been a very long afternoon, but I only lost one ball over the final 17 holes, coming up short on the par 3 #12 and ending up in the drink. I tried unsuccessfully to persuade the Partners volunteers that were on hand to wade in and retrieve my ball, but they kindly declined.

As for my co-workers, each was able to make a viable contribution to our team effort, which resulted in a third place finish in our flight. I am not sure what flight we were in, but I'm sure it was the Unskilled Flight. There is a reason why we make a living on the radio and not on the golf course. In recent years, we have taken the last place prize on more than one occasion.

The main thing is that we were out there to support a great cause - Partners of Mesa County. If you missed out,  I would invite you to join us for our next outing coming up on June 1 -  the Tee Off For Testicular Cancer National Golf Series. Get more information here.
