Despite their recent struggles, the Grand Junction Rockies are still in contention for the first half championship and a playoff spot.

Following Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Great Falls, the Rockies find themselves 4.5 games out of first place behind Idaho Falls and Orem, with 13 games to play in the first half of the season. Pioneer League playoff teams are determined by the division winners from both half seasons.

Having lost five of their last six games, the Rockies are just 7-10 during the month of July. The good news, however, is that no team is running away with the division title, leaving the Rockies within striking distance with less than two weeks to go before the all-star break.

The Rockies will have a chance to make up some ground in the final series before the break when they travel to Idaho Falls. However, they don't face Orem again until after the break, so they will need some help in order to catch up to the Owlz.

The Rockies will be back home on Thursday for their next homestand beginning with the completion of a suspended game against billings at 6:05PM, and the regularly scheduled contest at 7:05PM at Suplizio Field.
