Five Ideas on How to Spend $5,000 in Western Colorado

With the holidays right around the corner, it's best to not do what I do and wait until the last minute to do your holiday shopping, and a cool $5,000 would help you score some series brownie points from your family. With department stores, video game stores and pretty much all the essentials for a mall, Mesa Mall is a great place to bang out your holiday shopping.
2. Vacation
While we're pretty fortunate to have decent weather here in Western Colorado, who says you have to stay here this holiday season? Some extra cash could score you a plane ticket to fly out of Grand Junction airport to a variety of places. Vegas, anyone?
3. Wine Tasting in Palisade
This one doesn't require much money, but you could definitely stock up on some amazing local wine from Palisade, and trust me, there are plenty of great options to choose from.
4. Down Payment on a Vehicle
While we're a little more isolated here than say, the front range, we have pretty much all of the essentials, including plenty of great car dealerships. $5,000 could be a pretty fat down payment on a vehicle, too.
5. Ski Trip
Here's one that we're pretty fortunate to have closeby. While skiing is certainly not the most affordable hobby, (looking at you, Vail and Aspen,) $5,000 would go a long way for lift tickets, rentals, and gas money. Plus, even though the most popular ski resorts aren't necessarily that close, we do have Powderhorn pretty much in our back yard.
