Eminem + Rage Against the Machine: Hear Rapper’s Trump-Bashing Freestyle Set to ‘Bulls on Parade’
You knew this was coming, right? Just three days after Eminem made headlines by skewering President Donald Trump with a vicious a cappella freestyle, his vocals have been combined with the music from Rage Against the Machine's "Bulls on Parade."
DJ Cumberbund, previously responsible for pairing Rick James with the Foo Fighters, is the author of a mash-up entitled "Hey Trump!," which sets the rap star's incendiary 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards performance of "The Storm" alongside one of RATM's most popular anthems.
Eminem's support of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is prominently featured in the new mashup. Many feel Kaepernick has been exiled from the National Footall League as a result of his decision to kneel rather than stand when the National Anthem was played before games, in protest of what he and many others consider the unfair treatment of African-Americans by police and other government officials.
President Trump has been highly critical of Kaepernick and the athletes who have followed his lead. Eminem not only squarely sided with the quarterback in his freestyle — "This is for Colin / Ball up a fist / And keep that s--- balled / Like Donald the b----" — he demands that any fan of his who also support Trump choose sides. "I'm drawing in the sand a line: you're either for or against / And if you can't decide who you like more and you're split / On who you should stand beside, I'll do it for you with this: F--k you!"
It's highly unlikely the members of Rage Against the Machine would have much of a problem with Eminem's criticism of Trump. Three-fourths of the band - guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk - are currently teamed up with Public Enemy legend Chuck D and Cypress Hill's B-Real in the group Prophets of Rage.
The single "Hail to the Chief," from Prophets of Rage's recently released self-titled full-length debut, makes their feelings on our current president crystal clear: "Devising words to divide us / Fear in the heart of the millions / One percent with their billions / Savage politicians got the whole world ripe for the pickin'."
