Eddie Vedder was on CBS' Late Show With David Letterman last night (May 18) and performed the Pearl Jam hit “Better Man” for the host and his audience. Vedder will go down in the history books as one of Letterman’s final guests, as the late night host’s last show will be tomorrow (May 20). You can watch Vedder's performance above.

As you'll see, the singer performed the song with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra, which adds a different spin to the tune. The track begins with a stripped-down vibe before they pick up the tempo and start rocking out. The Pearl Jam Columbia twitter handle shared a photo of Vedder backstage at the show. He's seen grinning next to actor Tom Hanks, his wife actress Rita Wilson and director Cameron Crowe. We’ve put that snapshot below.

Besides being one of the last musical guests on Letterman, Vedder has been keeping himself busy. Last week the vocalist sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley Field for the Cubs-Mets game. While in Chicago, he also performed at a benefit show paying tribute to The Who. Vedder participated in Celebrating The Who, with the aim of raising money for Teen Cancer America, a charity that was started by The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend.
