Nepal is still reeling after a devastating earthquake rocked the country on Saturday, with the death toll climbing to more than 3,600 people.

About 1,000 deaths alone have taken place in Kathmandu.

The earthquake took place about 50 miles northwest of Kathmandu. There have been reports of several aftershocks.

There have been an estimated 6,500 injuries, as well, with people in China and India also reportedly dying.

A minimum of 18 people were killed and several more injured on Mount Everest, where an avalanche hit after the earthquake took place. Footage of that was captured by a climber. Please note the NSFW language:

The quake measured 7.8 and the number of fatalities is expected to rise, particularly in remote regions, according to a spokesman for charity World Vision:

Villages like this are routinely affected by landslides, and it's not uncommon for entire villages of 200, 300, up to 1,000 people to be completely buried by rock falls."

Numerous aid groups have pledged support to help. If you'd like to join the effort, there are plenty of options.
