Dream Theater Announce New Album + 2019 Tour, Share First Teaser

Three years ago, Dream Theater released The Astonishing, a record many have called their most ambitious effort to date as an elaborate concept spilled out across the double album. The prog legends are returning in 2019 with Distance Over Time, their 14th studio album, and a North American tour that launches in March.

The album, which will be released on a yet-to-be-disclosed date in February, features a robotic arms outstretched, holding a skull on the cover art, perhaps continuing some sort of theme which began on The Astonishing where machines ruled the world and created its music.

"Right now, we're mixing it. It's being mixed as we speak," keyboardist Jordan Rudess told Metal Wani in a recent interview. "It sounds awesome. I'm so excited about it. There's a very, very strong energy around the band these days. We all feel very connected and excited about what's coming."
