The snow started...and it didn't stop for over a day and that resulted in a 26-hour closure of Denver International Airport which has...needless to say backed things up a bit and has caused numerous delays and cancellations.

According to KDVR, DIA has opened all runways and is back rolling at full strength, but not without MANY delays. With air traffic being stopped for more than 24 hours, more than 3000 flights in or out of Denver were canceled.

Security lines were backed up to baggage claim where some travelers were waiting up to an hour to get through security.

The most important thing to keep in mind if you are traveling or you know someone that is...get there EARLY and plan on delays.

According to airport officials, travel and operations should resume at or near full capacity by Tuesday. However, it will still take a few days for all travelers to reach their destinations.

According to DIA, the Terminal East parking garage will remain closed.  The best bet is to check everything online before you head out for your trip or to pick someone up.
