The Denver Zoo's youngest giraffe, Dobby, will be turning 1-year-old on Wednesday (February 28) and would love for you to celebrate with him.

There wasn't a lot of fanfare leading up to Dobby's birth last year as zookeepers weren't aware his mother, Kipele, was pregnant since she was on birth control. They noticed changes and did get suspicious, though. An ultrasound proved their suspicions correct.

Dobby's parents, Kipele and Dikembe are two of the oldest giraffes at the zoo, both having been born in 1993. Dobby's birth last year was the first since 2010.

The party is at 1:30 p.m. in front of the giraffe exhibit or inside the giraffe house depending on weather. Regular zoo admission fees apply.
