Mayor Michael Hancock will be issuing a Stay At Home order in response to the COVID-19 virus this afternoon, according to the City and County of Denver's Facebook page.

The announcement is expected at 2 p.m. We will keep you updated as soon as more information is available.

UPDATE

Denver has announced that the stay at home order will go into effect on Tuesday, March 24 at 5 p.m. and last until April 10. Mayor Hancock states that high activity in the parks that included loosely organized sports, picnics and more factored into the decision to add stringent measures. Denver County residents can still go to essential places such as grocery stores, gas stations and other places deemed essential. Liquor stores and recreational dispensaries have been deemed non-essential in the order.

Hancock stated in the release "This is not a recommendation anymore. People need to stay home." The Denver Mayor also stated that they will enforce the order when and where it is necessary.
