Foo Fighters frontman and Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl is one of Warren, Ohio's famous sons, but the city's tribute to the musician has a new and unwelcome look courtesy of some vandals.

A mural dedicated to Grohl in what is known as 'Grohl Alley' was defamed with plenty of spray paint and graffiti, but, as local station WKBN reports, the act itself was caught on camera.

Retired police sergeant Joe O'Grady, who was instrumental in getting the artistic tribute to Grohl underway in the first place, explained that that idea of vandalism is something he always suspected might happen.

"We always knew that we were going to get, that something like this was going to take place," said O'Grady. "It's kind of like a West Coast earthquake -- how big and how bad? We just don't know when it's going to happen."

Luckily, O'Grady says there is plenty of footage and that once they do their homework on the crime, they should be able to track down the vandal. He added, "We're going to make the punishment fit the crime on this one. We're going to think of something very unique for this individual. If he needs attention, we are going to give him attention."
