COVID Cash: $1 Million Lottery for Vaccinated Coloradans Likely
In radio, we like to say, 'be listening for your shot at...' Turns out, Colorado could soon be saying, 'Get your shot for your shot at ONE MILLION DOLLARS.'
FOX31/KDVR is reporting that Governor Polis seems very likely to announce any day now, that Colorado will be one of the states giving away $1 million to a citizen who's gotten vaccinated against COVID-19.
'Stay tuned.' was the Governor's comment when responding to the question about whether the state would be implementing a lottery.
According to KDVR, those who've already gotten vaccinated WILL be a part of the lottery, so don't think that this is only to get those who haven't gotten vaccinated yet to do so. I can see a lot of folks jumping up and saying 'I got vaccinated a month ago, where's MY money?' All vaccinated Coloradans will be eligible.
Strike that, NEARLY all.
Since those under 18 are also getting vaccinated but are too young to gamble, the state will have to come up with a prize for youths.
My best guess is that they'd give that winner a paid scholarship, along with some sort of trust fund.
When they do announce this lottery, do you think that those who have said that they won't get vaccinated will now do so? I don't think so. I don't know what it would take; maybe $5 million, maybe a new home.
I think if I won $1 million by being vaccinated, I'd spend the first $100 by buying SHOT for everyone at Rock Bottom in Loveland.
