Colorado’s South Park Recreation Center is Different than the Show
There's no question that one of the pop culture franchises that are the most closely related to Colorado is South Park. The show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, both graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder and their creation, with a name borrowed from an actual area in Colorado, became a huge hit.
If you've lived in Colorado for long enough, you probably already know that there is actually a place called South Park in the state, and it's much different than the TV show. While there isn't a whole lot in South Park, one of the most notable things about the town has nothing to do with the show at all, but rather comes in the form of an impressive recreation center.
South Park Colorado Has an Impressive Rec Center
The TV show of the same name could easily lead one to believe that South Park is an established town with many residents and even big box stores like Walmart. However, South Park isn't even technically a town but is rather an area near the small mountain town of Fairplay, Colorado.
The South Park Recreational Center is located at 1190 Bullet Road in Fairplay and offers all kinds of activities to the community.
Sitting on a 4.7-acre plot of land, the rec center offers programs like yoga, water fitness, boxing, spin class, Zumba, swimming lessons, and even hosts the local School of Rock.
There's also a skatepark just outside of the massive building that makes up the rec center, and the whole place sits below a skyline of mountains and the natural beauty that Colorado is known for.
So next time you go down to South Park, you could consider "having yourself a time" at the real-life South Park Recreation Center.
