Ok, so I will admit I don't like bugs. But some of the bugs in Colorado look like they were made in a science fiction movie. Take a look!

Brown Recluse Spider

No. Just no. These nasty things are not a native to Colorado but have been brought here by tourists who didn't know they had an extra body on their trip.

Tarantula

Yes, I said tarantula. And if you don't think there are tarantulas in Colorado you haven't been to the Arkansas valley when they make their march. If you want to get creeped out, head to LaJunta in October and watch thousands of them make their way along the road.

Black Widow

Just the name freaks people out. The widow has a bad reputation and for good reason.  What I didn't know if there are two types of black widows. Ours is known as the Western Widow (Latrodectus hesperus) Its bite won't kill you usually but it will cause intense pain and tissue damage.

No, that's not a creepy crawly, but they have the largest selection of them anywhere. And not just the ones from Colorado either. If you like bugs, or even if you don't, you'll want to plan a visit here. Once you've seen them you know what to avoid, right?

So grab the bug spray and head out on the trails, but watch out for these guys.
