Colorado’s Climate Twin is Afghanistan
Colorado has some great weather. We also get the benefit of being able to say we have all four seasons.
If you were looking for another place on earth that would closely resemble the climate of Colorado, you would have to head to the middle east region.
According to 9 News, the closest climate that resembles Colorado's climate is Afghanistan. The similarities between Colorado and Afghanistan include a semi-arid climate and approximately the same distance to the equator. Afghanistan's capital of Kabul closely resembles Colorado's capital of Denver. Kabul is close to the mountain range and the elevation is a bit higher at 5,876 feet. Kabul is also famous for big snowstorms in March, much like Denver.
Afghanistan may be close to Colorado's climate twin, but there are some differences. Afghanistan's tallest mountain, Mount Nashaq (24,580 feet), towers over Colorado's tallest peak, Mt. Elbert (14,440 feet),) by 10,000 feet. The plains of Afghanistan are west with the mountain range in the east.
