Colorado Spelling Bee Champ Moves on to Nationals
The student who has been recognized as the best speller in Colorado is a 13-year-old girl currently enrolled in Hulstrom K-8 in Northglenn named Aditi Muthukumar.
While Muthukumar ended up winning the Colorado State spelling bee recently, the eighth grader has been recognized for her excellent spelling skills in the past as well. In fact, Muthukumar competed in the 95th Scripps National Spelling Bee last year as well where she finished in 74th place.

This year, the 96th Scripps National Spelling Bee will be broadcast on ION at 6 p.m. MST on the night of Wednesday, May 29, and Thursday, May 30.
Muthukumar wasn't the only student representing Colorado in the finals this year but was originally joined by another local spelling champ, 11-year-old Cooper Edwards of Boulder. However, the fifth-grader was eliminated from the competition on Tuesday.
The spelling bee itself is taking place just outside of Washington D.C. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland and despite being held on the other side of the country, it's safe to assume that Coloradans all across the state will be tuning in to cheer her on.
