A Colorado man was unfortunately found dead Monday afternoon, (December 14th) near the Breckenridge ski area.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was found lifeless in the Blue River in the Colorado ski town of Breckenridge just before 2 p.m. yesterday (Monday, December 14th.)

It's uncertain how the man passed away, but he was found wearing snowboard gear; snowboarding boots, and pants when he was discovered.

Following his body being found and transported to the coroner's office, the Summit County Coroner's Office reported that the cause of death was yet to be determined until further investigation could be completed.

Upon finding the man, who was obviously snowboarding when he tragically lost his life, the Breckenridge Police Department actively reached out to the community to help to identify the man that had so tragically perished, as they were unable to positively identify him on their own at the time.

However, at around 12 p.m. today, it was said that the police had preliminarily identified the man who had passed away while most likely snowboarding at Breckenridge, and whose cause of death was still to be determined.

Although authorities are quite certain that they have determined the name of the deceased male, his name is being withheld from the public at the time until the man's next of kin can be notified of his death.

Authorities are asking that anyone with any information relating to the incident or the victim report to jenniferj@townofbreckenridge.com or (970) 668-8600.
