Silverton, Colorado is a tiny town in Colorado's rural, high country near Telluride. However, unlike Telluride, Silverton doesn't have any mansions owned by Jerry Seinfeld of Oprah.

In fact, Silverton is known for its largely untouched powder days as well as an experience you've likely never heard of that will give any skier or snowboarder an extra adrenaline rush.

Silverton Colorado's Heli Skiing

Besides being a hidden gem ski resort that caters to locals, Silverton Mountain Ski Area offers something called Heli Skiing, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like.

Basically, you wait at the bottom of the mountain for a helicopter to pick you up, fly you to the top of the mountain, and drop you off so that you can ski or snowboard down.

Heli Skiing is available 7 days a week while the resort is open with certain exceptions, all of which you can find on the mountain's website.
