While not everyone will be significantly affected by these laws, some of the laws will benefit Colorado residents who rent their homes, as well as those who may be struggling with mental health issues.

One of Colorado’s New Laws Will Benefit Renters

One of the new laws that will take effect in Colorado in 2026 will be beneficial to residents who are planning on renting a new home but have had trouble doing so in the past because of their poor credit scores.

House Bill 25-1236 addresses the topic of residential tenant screening, amending the definition of what is known as a “portable tenant screening report.”

Once enacted, this bill will not require future tenants to disclose their credit score, credit history, or any other event that took place that might negatively affect their chances of securing a rental home from the realm of credit.

Another New Law Will Help Coloradans Struggling With Mental Health

While many topics are addressed with the 19 new Colorado laws that are set to be enacted in January of 2026, one of the current bills that will be signed into law in the new year will directly affect those struggling with mental health issues.

When enacted into law, House Bill 25-1002 will require health benefits provided by employers not just to cover physical ailments, but mental health, substance abuse, and behavioral issues as well.
