Colorado Bill To End Puppy Mills Fails To Pass

A bill to stop puppy and kitten mills died Monday in the Colorado legislature.

Colorado House Bill 1084 had sough to end that practice.

Unbeknownst to many, pet stores can be a "pipeline" for mass breeding operations, according to Colorado Politics.

With this failed bill, and I can't stress this enough, when looking for a pet go to a kill shelter and avoid the pet stores.

The bill would have protected professional breeders but sought to limit the number of animals a pet store could take in, to 25. This measure would have choked the business of puppy mills.

Its high-volume breeding operations that supply pets stores. I rescued my dog from a puppy mill and it was a terrifying sight, ever seen 200 dogs in one backyard?

Rep. Monica Duran, D-Denver told Colorado Politics: "I'm disappointed and heartbroken at what we had to give up," she said before the losing vote.
