Why is the Steamboat Ski Resort Holding an Auction?

The Steamboat Ski Resort is in the progress of the "second phase of a multi-year, multi-million-dollar resort transformation."

That means it's out with the old and in with the new, so the Steamboat Ski Resort has decided to hold an auction to find new homes for a few pieces of property.

Where Does the Steamboat Springs Auction Money Go?

The money raised from the auction will be given to the resort's Charitable Environmental Fund at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.

The Steamboat Ski Resort currently has 3 different items up for auction:

• Gondola Cabin (3 available)
• Medical Gondola Cabin (1 available)

One of the absolute coolest things available for auction is the medical gondola cabin with a green cross equipped with a small metal bed inside.

These days a green cross in Colorado typically signifies medical marijuana, but according to a report from 9News, when the medical gondola cabin was received in 1986 it simply signified that the cabin was for medical use.

Steamboat Ski Resort stated that the gondola cabin actually didn't see much use as rescuers typically used a toboggan to take patients down the mountain.
