In fact, Governor Jared Polis announced on his official Facebook page that the new, modernized take on the Statue of Liberty will soon be added to the many impressive sculptures in the gorgeous Aurora Highlands neighborhood, and the story behind the work of art is nothing short of fascinating.

Where Did the Idea for Colorado’s New Statue Come From?

The statue is a concept that originally came from Michael Benisty, a Belgian artist known for his use of mirrored metal in his works. While the 58-foot statue known as simply, "Liberty," will be new to Colorado, it actually made its official debut at the 2024 Burning Man festival.
