Colorado Fire Chief Resigned After Comment About Protesters

We all know that right now is not the time to be joking around about politics or anything to do with racism or protesters who are fighting for equal rights. But sometimes people forget about common sense and post online anyway, and for one Colorado fire chief, his comments have cost him his job.

We got the information from our friends at KKCO11, that in the small town of Lyons, Colorado their fire chief JJ Hoffman resigned over a comment that he made last month regarding people protesting the death of George Floyd.

His comment has lots of people talking about the small town of Lyons, Colorado. The online post stated that he would spray protesters in Denver with a high-pressure water hose for fun.

Most people understand that making a comment like that is going to cause a reaction, but when you are a fire chief and you say that as Mr. Hoffman found out it has now cost him his job.

Since the post was made online he has apologized and said the comment was made in jest. Other politicians have said that his apology wasn't enough and that he had lost the trust of the public.

Whether you agree with what Hoffman said or not, this should come as yet another reminder to watch what you say or post online. Whether you apologize or not the damage is done just as soon as you hit post for any online comments and you cannot take those words back.
