Creepy Event Features Fruita Colorado’s Mike the Headless Chicken
With Halloween right around the corner, it's only appropriate that we see numerous spooky, scary, and downright creepy events begin to pop up in Colorado.

One of these events that is set to take place just around the corner brings a bit of Western Colorado lore into it, as it will showcase one of the weirdest things that Fruita, Colorado, is known for: Mike the Headless Chicken.
When and Where Will Colorado's Creeporado Take Place?
The event is called Creeporado and will take place on Friday, September 26, at the History Colorado Center in Denver.
Creeporado Will Showcase the Tale of Fruita, Colorado's Mike the Headless Chicken
The annual event will have a major tie to Western Colorado this year as participants are encouraged to go on a scavenger hunt to find Fruita, Colorado's Mike the Headless Chicken's head.
In case you're not familiar, back in the 1940s, a farmer in Fruita named Lloyd Olsen unsuccessfully attempted to decapitate one of his chickens and became the subject of local legends. The chicken went on to live for over a year, appearing in sideshows and being celebrated annually by Fruita's Mike the Headless Chicken Festival.
What Else Will Take Place at Colorado's Creeporado Event?
In addition to the Mike the Headless Chicken scavenger hunt, Creeporado will feature a myriad of spooky goods and artifacts, some of which are so creepy that attendees will need to be 18 years of age or older to be admitted.
