For those that get high from the thrill of the chase, a Colorado company offers storm chasing tours.

Silver Lining Tours out of Watkins, Colorado,  advertises the "atmospheric adventure of a lifetime."

The company offers a variety of storm tours including the Close Encounters Tour, which is already sold out for this year, but they're taking bookings in 2018 at a cost of $3,650. This tour is based in Oklahoma, prime tornado country. On this tour, they  promise to get you "close enough to a tornado to feel the winds, smell the tornado, see debris flying around while staying safe and ALWAYS having an escape route!"

The Great North Tornado Hunt is a 10-day adventure that takes you to the upper Midwest, the northern Plains, and the Canadian prairies. The price tag for 2017 and 2018 tours is $3,600.

If you've seen the movie Twister starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, storm chasing looks like lots of fun, but terrifying at the same time. On its website, Silver Lining Tours says

There are significant risks involved in storm chasing, no matter with whom you go! However, the risks are substantially lower chasing with us than on your own. During the last 30 years of storm chasing there have been only three storm chaser fatalities, one directly attributable to a storm and its elements.

Personally, I have never experienced a tornado. Aside from the safety and comfort in front of a computer monitor or TV screen. The idea of possibly seeing one up close is extremely intriguing. Of course, if I had $3,600 to spend, maybe I would just supersize my television and continue to enjoy tornados in the comfort and safety of my living room recliner.
