One of the latest announcements of this type doesn't concern a mom-and-pop operation or even a store exclusively in Colorado, but the Centennial State will certainly feel some of the impact nonetheless.
Convenience Chain with Numerous Colorado Locations to Close Hundreds of Stores
For years, 7-Eleven has been a staple around Colorado and elsewhere when it comes to convenience store chains. However, it was recently announced that the Japanese-owned company is planning to close over 400 of its locations in the United States and Canada before 2025.

The news from the convenience giant blames the underperformance that has led the company to this conclusion on inflation, slower traffic, and perhaps surprisingly, a drastic drop in cigarette sales.
The company has cited tobacco smoke alternatives like nicotine pouches and vapes for the drop in sales.
Currently, there are a total of 378 7-Eleven stores operating in Colorado, making up about 4% of the total locations across North America, but it has yet to be seen whether or not any of these shops will be affected by the impending closures.
The current CEO and president of 7-Eleven, Joe DePinto, made a statement announcing the company's decision to put more emphasis on providing customers with high-quality food at an affordable price as a means to ensure the brand's future success.
