California Approves Home Weed Delivery, Is Colorado Next?
Is getting weed going to be like ordering a pizza?
In California, dispensary retail marijuana is just a phone call away. They may be able to order online. If that's not a thing yet, it soon will be. On Wednesday, January 16th California state lawyers approved regulation allowing home cannabis deliveries statewide. That includes communities that have banned local retail sales.
Needless to say, cities that banned the sale of cannabis oppose the rule. So does local law enforcement. They believe it will create an unmanageable marketplace of shady weed deals and undermine control by local municipalities. Police Chief David Swing, president of the California Police Chiefs Association says "...allowing home deliveries anywhere in California will make enforcement of the complex industry more difficult."
Should officials and lawmakers consider approving home delivery in Colorado? If they do what would that look like? If Colorado models the measure after California that would mean a dispensary in a nearby town could deliver to Grand Junction. Would that be the "straw that breaks the camel's back" and forces Grand Junction city officials to finally approve sale inside the city?
