Busted: Drug Dealer Arrested In Undercover Operation In Greeley
A man has been arrested in Greeley following an undercover meth transaction conducted by the Weld County Drug Task Force.
The drug task force engaged in undercover purchases with 36-year-old Luis Herrera-Delores, recording evidence of him selling meth on multiple occasions.
According to the Greeley Tribune, the Weld County Drug Task Force conducted a controlled narcotics transaction with Luis Herrera-Delores, a suspected drug dealer, on June 29.
The transaction was planned over the phone between Herrera-Delores and an undercover investigator. The two individuals reportedly arranged to meet at the Greeley Mall.
Herrera-Delores was under surveillance before and throughout the entire arrangement, according to the Greeley Tribune.
The suspect was seen getting into his vehicle and leaving his residence at approximately 5:46 p.m. on June 29, which was the same time the undercover investigator arrived at the meeting spot, as per arrest records; Herrera-Delores arrived at the meeting spot at 5:55 p.m.
Records indicate that Herrera-Delores was seen exiting his vehicle and getting into the passenger side of the undercover vehicle. During this transaction, the undercover investigator was successfully able to identify Herrera-Delores based on pictures and previous encounters with the suspect.
Herrera-Delores gave the undercover investigator 56.7 grams of meth, according to records, in exchange for $800, which was provided from the task force funds.
Arrest records indicate that the meth was tested by the Greeley Police Department; the meth did, in fact, test positive as such.
Then, on July 7, the undercover investigator arranged another transaction with Herrera-Delores; the investigator requested, over the phone, an order of 4 ounces of meth.
As per reports, the two individuals planned to meet at 3103 S. 23rd St. in Greeley to perform the transaction.
The drug task force once again watched Herrera-Delores leave his residence and enter into the same vehicle that he had last time, to perform the previous transaction. At 6:35 p.m., his truck pulled into the parking lot. Records state that Herrera-Delores was once again identified as he exited his truck and entered the undercover officer’s vehicle.
Herrera-Delores provided the investigator with the requested 4 ounces of meth, which was later tested and confirmed by the Greeley Police Department. According to arrest records, the total amount of meth weighed 113.8 grams.
Video and audio recordings from both the June 29 and July 7 incidents were submitted as evidence in this case.
On July 16, a warrant was issued for 36-year-old Luis Herrera-Delores’s arrest, and he was booked into Weld County Jail. His bond was set at $25,000.
Luis Herrera-Delores now faces charges for unlawful distribution, manufacturing, dispensing, or sale of drugs.
He is scheduled for an advisement hearing on Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. in Weld District Court.
